Hello, I’m Jon…….and pictured with me is my beautiful wife and soul mate Dyana. Together, we have 4 amazing children we are raising in Endicott, New York.
I’m a self-taught photographer who specializes in Still Life, Americana and Lifestyle photography. And, my photography philosophy is simple: Good photography comes down to one thing – composition. I rely heavily on composition when taking photos and I stress the importance of this on this website. I do very little in the way of processing of my photos, as I don’t particularly enjoy editing them.
Please accept my invitation to look around, check out what I’ve got going here and even join my blog community. But before you get started – please allow me to let you know exactly what I’m looking to accomplish here.
As you can imagine, I love taking pictures. I have thousands of photos and videos of my kids growing up over the years. So if you’re like me, this site may be for you. No matter what my mood may be, I SEE pictures almost everywhere I look. Everything I see is almost immediately followed by a few seconds of study, then perspective – followed by innumerable thoughts of light and exposure.
Although recently retired, I feel like I have a lot left in my tank. I love to create. So, in following my dreams I’m ready to dive into the next chapter of my life’s journey.
Here at RidgefieldPhoto.com my intent is to use this site to chronicle this exciting journey for me. Hopefully, every now and again I’ll get to connect with other people, regardless of experience who equally share the same passion to learn more; Not only from each other but also from ourselves. I sincerely hope that this site helps us all to learn more tips, tricks and techniques as time goes by. Maybe, even more importantly, everyone here will also to learn how to get so much more fun and fulfillment from our cameras, our lenses and our printers.
If you look at my body of work, you’ll see that I don’t do commercial wedding, family, student, senior, sports, teams or pet photography. That doesn’t mean you won’t find some of those shots here on my site or blog, I’m just not really looking to make a living taking pictures, so I pretty much just shoot whatever I want – whenever I want. As you navigate through my site, enjoy my pictures, upload your own to my blog and read our discussions.
Remember, this is all about learning and having fun. I hope you’ll join in and take part but please don’t take it all too seriously………I’m not. Just kick back with us and enjoy the ride!
